There were several tips/steps we can follow to reduce the size of our mail box, which is definitely a broader subject, but here i would like to discuss one easy tip that requires a minimal configuration change and have to be done once.
Having said that,i want to brought up a common fact about deleting the messages,we generally delete the messages which is not required anymore, but will not take that extra pain, either,to remove it from 'Deleted Items' folder or use shift+delete, which will permanantly delete the messages from the mail box, there by
reducing the size considerably.
There is an easy work around for this, go to Tools->Options->Other->
Then click the checkbox 'Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting'.
Next time when you close/exit your outlook a pop up appears
'Are you sure you want to permanently delete all the items and subfolders in the 'Deleted Items' folder ? with 'Yes' and 'No' buttons,
either you can hit the enter button or click 'Yes' for permanently deleting the messages from the mail box.
